If you are having trouble with the Eltel ET-5300 router and cannot login to the user interface you may need to reset the Eltel ET-5300 back to it's original factory defaults. Before I begin I need to explain the difference between a reset and a reboot.

When you reboot something you cycle the power to the device. This is done by unplugging the power, waiting about 15 seconds before plugging it back in.

When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults.

Warning: This means every single setting you have ever changed during the lifetime of the device is erased and returned to factory defaults. Make a list of all the settings you may of changed such as:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The Internet name and password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your local ISP for the details.
  • Have you made any port forwards or IP address changes? These all need to re-entered also.

Reset the Eltel ET-5300

It is now time to find the rest button on the back panel of the Eltel ET-5300 router. Unfortunately I was unable to find an image of the back panel of the Eltel ET-5300. The image below shows the typical location of a reset button.

While the router is on, take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. If you don't hold this button down for the entire amount of time you end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting like you wanted.

Don't forget that this reset is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed. We strongly recommend that you try other methods of fixing your problem before you resort to a reset.

Login to the Eltel ET-5300

Once you've reset the Eltel ET-5300 router you'll need to log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: Defaults not logging you in? It might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Now that you've logged into your router we recommend setting a new password for it. This can be anything you want it to be, however remember that a strong password is 14-20 characters in length and includes no personal information. For more help be sure to check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Prevent yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
