EnGenius ESR9850 Port Forwarding Instructions

This page will show you how to setup a port forward on the EnGenius ESR9850 router.

Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the EnGenius ESR9850 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The EnGenius ESR9850

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your EnGenius ESR9850 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the EnGenius ESR9850 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the EnGenius ESR9850

After you have finished logging into the EnGenius ESR9850 router you should see a page like the one above.

To create a port forward on the EnGenius ESR9850 router you click the option in the left sidebar labeled Advanced.

A new set of options appear along the top of the page in grey. Choose the one labeled Port fw.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your EnGenius ESR9850

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are then taken to a page like the one you see above.

  • Put a checkmark in the box labeled Enable Port Forwarding.
  • Enter the name of the program you are forwarding ports for in the box labeled Description. It's not critical what you put here but we recommend entering something that will remind you of why you are forwarding these ports.
  • Next is the Local IP. Enter the IP address of the computer you are forwarding these ports to in this box. If you are forwarding ports to make a game run smoother on your PC make sure to enter that PCs IP address here.
  • Use the Protocol drop down list to choose the type of protocol you need to use while forwarding these ports.
  • Enter the port number you are forwarding into both the Local Port box and the Public Port box.
  • Finally, click the Add button to add this port forward to your list of forwarded ports.

That's it, just click the Apply button when you are finished to apply your changes.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the EnGenius ESR9850 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
