On this page I will be showing you how to reset the Ericsson W35 router back to the original factory defaults. This is normally done if you are unable to login to the Ericsson W35 to make changes.

A reset is often times confused with the term reboot. A lot of router manufacturers and guide writers use the term reset to refer both to a reset and a reboot. This causes a lot of understandable confusion. In this guide when I use the term reboot I am referring to a cycle in the power to the unit, nothing more. When I use the term reset I am referring to a complete factory restore of all settings. Every setting you have ever changed is erased and reverted back to the way it was when it left the factory.

Warning: This reset is a big step in trying to login to the Ericsson W35 router. A full router reconfiguration will need to be done after the reset is complete. Things you must consider first are:

  • The router's interface username and password are reverted back to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are also reverted back to how they were when they left the factory.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your ISP for the details.
  • If you have ever changed anything else on this device you need to reconfigure them as well.

Reset the Ericsson W35

Do you know where the reset button is located? I have found it for you and circled it in the image below.

This is the reset page from your Ericsson W35 router.

While the router is on, take the tip of a pen and press down on the reset button until the Standby button starts to flash. If you don't press the reset button down long enough you might end up only rebooting the device instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Remember a reset like this one is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed on the Ericsson W35 router. We strongly recommend that you try other methods of troubleshooting before you decide to reset.

Login to the Ericsson W35

Now that you've reset the Ericsson W35 router you'll need to log into it. This is accomplished by using the factory default username and password. Don't know where you can find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Following that we suggest setting a new password for your router. Keep in mind that this password will only protect your router settings, not your wireless network settings. All the same setting a strong password is always a good decision. For more help be sure to visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Avoid losing your new password by writing it on a note and attaching it to the bottom of your router.
