Have you tried to login to the Hama 62731 and are unable to do so? You might need to reset the Hama 62731 router back to the original factory defaults.

This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot your router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset your router you take all the settings an return them all to factory defaults.

Warning: A reset will erase every setting you have ever changed on this device. We strongly recommend creating a list of the settings you might of changed during the lifetime of this particular Hama 62731 router. Some of these changes might be:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The WiFi information such as SSID and Internet password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. You need to call your local ISP for these specific details.
  • Write down any other changes such as port forwards or IP address changes as well.

Reset the Hama 62731

Normally the physical reset button is on the back panel of the router just like the image below. Go ahead and locate the reset button for the Hama 62731 router.

While the router remains on take a small sharp object such as a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for at least 10 seconds. A lot of routers have it so if you don't hold the reset down for the entire amount of time it only reboots the device instead of resetting it, so be aware.

Remember a reset like this one is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed on your device. The entire router needs to be re-configured. We strongly recommend this be your last course of action. Try other methods of accessing your router before you decide to reset.

Login to the Hama 62731

After you've reset the Hama 62731 router you should log into it. This is accomplished by using the factory default username and password. Not sure where you can find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it might be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

Once you've reset and logged into your router we suggest setting a new password for it. This can be anything you like, however keep in mind that a strong password includes no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Prevent yourself from losing your new password by writing it on a sticky note and putting it on the bottom of your router.
