Login To The Huawei E8231
To get started configuring the Huawei E8231 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Huawei E8231
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
Once you have finished logging into the Huawei E8231 router you should see a page like the one above.
To change the WiFi settings click the option at the top of the page labeled Settings. Then in the left sidebar click the option of WLAN and finally WLAN Basic Settings.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Huawei E8231
On this new page make sure the WLAN Module has Enable checked.
Then in the box labeled SSID, enter the network name you want to use. This is the how you identify your network. We recommend avoiding personal information or router specific information. Learn more in our wireless names guide.
Below that is the Security mode. The option of WPA2-PSK is the best option available right now. If you want to learn more read our WEP vs. WPA guide.
Finally enter a new WPA pre-shared key. This is the network key and should be strong. We recommend using at least 14 characters in this new password. For tips and ideas check out our Choosing a Strong Password guide.
Click the blue Apply button and you are finished.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
