Setup WiFi on the Huawei HG532d

Login To The Huawei HG532d

This guide begins on the Home page of the Huawei HG532d router. Start off by clicking Basic on the left hand side of the page and then WLAN below that. Make sure you're on the tab marked WLAN near the top of the page.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Huawei HG532d

Begin by making sure Wireless is set to Enable.

Next you'll need to make sure that the Channel is set to either 1, 6, or 11. Why are these the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide to find out.

After that you'll need to set an SSID. This will serve as your network identification and can be anything you like. However, due to security reasons we strongly recommend that you avoid any kind of personal information. To learn more take a look at our Wireless Names Guide.

Now make sure that the Security is set to WPA2-PSK. This will give you the best security. For more information check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Following that you'll need to set a WPA pre-shared key. This will be your network password and can be whatever you want. However, a strong password is 14-20 characters long and includes no personal information. For more help visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Be sure that the WPA encryption is set to AES.

Finally, make sure that the WPS option is not enabled.

That's it! You're done. Just be sure to click Submit before closing the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
