This is the wifi setup page from your Huawei HG552e router.

This should take you to the page you see above. If not just click the tab near the top of the page labeled WLAN.

First of all, make sure there is a check mark in the small box labeled Enable WLAN.

In the box labeled SSID enter a new name for your network. This name is the identification for your local network. We recommend making this name unique while avoiding personal or router specific information. Learn more in our How to Change your Wireless Name guide.

Under that is a drop down box labeled Security. Open this drop down menu and choose the option of WPA2-PSK. This is the strongest form of security available right now. Learn more in our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.

At this point a new box should appear titled WPA Pre-Shared Key. This is the Internet password and should be strong. Create a strong password by using at least 14 characters with some letters (upper and lower case), symbols, and numbers. The more random your password appears to be the stronger it is. Learn more in our Choosing a Strong Password guide.

There also may be a box labeled WPA Encryption. Go ahead and set this to AES.

Finally when you have made the above changes go ahead and click the Submit button.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
