WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.
Wireless Password
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The KAON Media DIGI
To get started configuring the KAON Media DIGI WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the KAON Media DIGI
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
Begin by clicking the option of WLAN 2.4GHz at the top of the page.
Change the WiFi Settings on the KAON Media DIGI
This takes you to a page like the one you see above. On this page we will show what to do with two of the settings:
- The SSID: This is the name of your network connection. Create a new name here but avoid personal information. Learn more on our Change your Wireless Name page.
- The Channel Number: If you need to change the channel be sure to use channels 1, 6, or 11. Learn why in our WiFi Channels guide.
Click the blue Apply Changes button at the bottom of the page. Then click SSID Security in the left sidebar.
This takes you to the page you see above. Here we will show you what to do with five of the settings:
- The Select SSID: Simply select the SSID you created on the last page.
- The Encryption: This is the network security. It will work in conjunction with your Pre-Shared Key. For the best encryption choose WPA2. Learn more on our WEP vs. WPA page.
- The Authentication Mode: Select Personal (Pre-Shared Key).
- The WPA2 Cipher Suite: Select AES.
- The Pre-Shared Key: This is the Internet password. Make sure to create a password with at least 10 characters, including numbers, symbols, and letters (upper and lowercase). Learn why in our Creating a Strong Password guide.
When you are finished click the blue Apply Changes button to save your changes.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
