This guide shows you how to reset your Motorola SBG941 router. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. Turning a router off and back on again causes a reboot. This is very different from a reset, which erases a router completely and returns it to factory default settings.
Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. The following settings will be changed in your router:
- The router's username and password are reset to factory defaults.
- All WiFi login information and network names are reset.
- If your router has any ISP settings they will be removed, and you will have to contact your ISP.
- All parental controls, firewall settings, and port forwards will be removed.
Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Recover Password in Motorola SBG941

If you are unable to recover your lost router password, then you may have to proceed with a full router reset.
Reset the Motorola SBG941
Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. What you are looking for is something that looks like this:
Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. You might find a pinhole on the back of the router that requires a paper clip to push the button hidden under it.
Keep an eye on the lights on the front of your router while holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. Notice how the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When the lights do something different, the router is reset. Keep holding the button as long as you want, it will not hurt anything to hold it down too long.
Remember, this will erase everything you have previously done to this Motorola SBG941 router.

Login to the Motorola SBG941

Change Your Password

Tip: A great place to write your new password down is on a piece of paper taped to the bottom of your router.
