Setup WiFi on the Netgear Centria WNDR4700

Login To The Netgear Centria WNDR4700

Find the WiFi Settings on the Netgear Centria WNDR4700

This guide starts on the Home page of the Netgear Centria WNDR4700 router. To change your wireless network settings click Advanced near the top of the page and then Setup in the left hand sidebar. Finally, click Wireless Setup.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear Centria WNDR4700

We'll only be making changes in the top section of the page marked Wireless Network2.4GHz b/g/n).

Start out by setting a Name (SSID). This can be whatever you like, however we strongly recommend avoiding the use of any personal information. To learn more be sure to visit our Wireless Names Guide.

Beneath that is a drop down menu labeled Channel. This needs to be set to either 1, 6, or 11. Why are these the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide to learn more.

Next set the Security Options to WPA2-PSK [AES]. This will provide you with the best security. For more information check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Lastly you'll set a Passphrase. This can be whatever you want it to be, however keep in mind that a strong password consists of no personal information and is 14-20 characters in length. For more help be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
