This is the reset guide for the Netgear CGD24G router. A router reset is very different than a router reboot. Every time your router loses power it reboots. However, when you reset a router you, return it back to its factory default settings.
Warning: Proceed with caution; resetting your router can be a major headache. The following settings in your router will be changed:
- The router's login and password are reset.
- All WiFi login information and network names are reset.
- Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, or port forwards that you have configured will be removed.
Resetting your router should be considered the last step. Before you reset your router, you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Recover Password in Netgear CGD24G

Just keep in mind that a router reset should be done as the last resort when you are unable to login to your router.
Reset the Netgear CGD24G
Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:
Reset buttons are usually tiny. Yours may look slightly different than this. If you find a pinhole on the back of the router then that may be the reset button. You will need a paper clip to push it.
Watch the lights on the front of your router and hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.
Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Netgear CGD24G router.
This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.
Login to the Netgear CGD24G
Once the reset is complete, you need to login to your router using the default IP address, username, and password. Just follow our CGD24G Login Guide to find all of the information that you need.
Change Your Password

Tip: A great place to write your new password down is on a piece of paper taped to the bottom of your router.
