This is the wifi setup page from your Netgear R6300 router.

On this new page, we recommend making all your changes in the Wireless Network (2.4GHz b/g/n).

Begin by finding the box labeled Name (SSID). Here you need to enter a different SSID. This is the name you use for your network identification. Be original but try and avoid using any personal information. Find out more about the SSID in our Wireless Names Guide.

Next is the Channel. It is recommended that everyone uses channels 1,6, or 11. Learn why in our WiFi Channels Guide.

Now locate the Security Options. There are several choices here and if you want to know what they are check out this guide titled WEP vs. WPA.

Finally you should enter a new Passphrase. This is the network password. It is recommended that you use at least 14 characters with a mix of numbers, symbols, and letters. Check out this guide titled Choosing a Strong Password for more information.

That's it, just click the Apply button when you are finished.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
