Wireless Password
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel

Change the WiFi Settings on the Netgear WNDR3400
This takes you to the page you see here. There are four settings that need to be changed in order to have a more secure WiFi.
First, find the box labeled Name (SSID) and enter a new name for your network. This is your network identification and should be changed from the default. While it doesn't really matter what you enter here we recommend avoiding personal information. Check out our Wireless Names Guide for more information.
The next setting that should be checked is titled Channel. You need to be sure you are using channels 1,6, or 11. These three channels are important, to learn why read our WiFi Channels Guide.
Now take a look at your Security Options. There are several choices here and if you are interested in learning what the differences are, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide. We recommend using the option of WPA2-PSK[AES]. This is the most secure option available today.
The last setting that needs to be changed is titled Passphrase. This is the network password and should be made strong for the protection of your network. We recommend using at least 14-20 characters and contain at least one symbol, number, and capital letter. Check out our Password Guide for more information.
Don't forget to click the Apply button before you exit. Congratulations, you did it.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
