In this article, you will learn how to reset your Prolink Hurricane 5305G back to factory settings. Resetting a router is different than rebooting a router. Rebooting a router is simply turning it off and back on again. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.

Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. The following settings in your router will be changed:

  • The router's login credentials are reset to factory defaults.
  • Your WiFi name and password are reset.
  • Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

A router reset is the last step you should take in recovering your router's password. You should be sure that you have tried to at least recover your router password using our Router Password Finder before resorting to a router reset.

Only after you have tried to recover your missing router username and password should you perform a full router reset.

Reset the Prolink Hurricane 5305G

Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look for something that looks like this:

Router Reset Button

Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. Sometimes the reset button is under a pinhole on the back of the router, and you need a paper clip to push it.

Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. You cannot hold the button too long, and it will not hurt the router to hold the reset button down for longer than 10 seconds.

Keep in mind that this will completely reset your Prolink Hurricane 5305G router.

Only do this once you have exhausted all other troubleshooting options, such as running our Router Password Finder software, which can recover a lost router password for you.
