WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.

Login To The Sitecom 300N-XR
To get started configuring the Sitecom 300N-XR WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Sitecom 300N-XR
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
This guide starts on the System Status page of the Sitecom 300N-WirelessGigabit-XR router. To configure the wireless options to your benefit, click the option at the top of the page labeled Wireless Settings.
Below that select the option of Basic.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Sitecom 300N-XR
- First, locate the drop-down list titled Enable SSID#, choose an available number for your SSID. Most will simply use the number 1 for their SSID.
- Below that in the box titled SSID1, or whatever number you have chosen, enter a new network name. This should be unique to you. It doesn't matter what you enter here but don't use personal information. Find out more in our Wireless Name Guide.
- Directly under that is the Channel. Make sure you are using channels 1,6, or 11. Find out why this is important in our WiFi Channels Guide.
- Click the Apply button in the lower right corner of the page.
- Go back to the top of the page and click Security.
- In the Encryption drop-down list choose the security you want to use for your network. We recommend using WPA pre-shared key.
- Then below that choose WPA2(AES) as the WPA Type. To learn more about the different security options, click this link.
- The Pre-shared key Type needs be set to Passphrase.
- Finally you need to change the Pre-shared Key. This is the password you use to protect your wireless internet network. We recommend that you create a password of at least 14 to 20 characters. Try using some capital letters, numbers, and symbols to make your password even stronger. We have more ideas for you in our Password Guide.
- That's it, simply click the Apply button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
