Reset the Sitecom WLR-4100

This is the reset guide for the Sitecom WLR-4100 router. A router reset is very different than a router reboot. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. This is different from a reset because a reset completely erases all settings from the router.

Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. When you reset your router, the following will happen.

  • The router's login credentials are reset to factory defaults.
  • Your WiFi name and password are reset.
  • Any ISP settings saved in your router will be removed. You may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

A router reset is the last step you should take in recovering your router's password. Before you reset your router, you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Reset the Sitecom WLR-4100

Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. This is what a typical reset button looks like:

Reset buttons are usually tiny. Yours may look slightly different than this. You might find a pinhole on the back of the router that requires a paper clip to push the button hidden under it.

Watch the lights on the front of your router and hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds. The blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router should change when the reset is complete. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.

Remember, this will erase everything you have previously done to this Sitecom WLR-4100 router.

Login to the Sitecom WLR-4100

Now that you have finished resetting your router, you need to log in using the default username and password from the factory. You can follow the WLR-4100 Login Guide to find everything that you need to log in.

Change Your Password

Tip: A great place to write your new password down is on a piece of paper taped to the bottom of your router.
