If you need to reset your Thomson DWG875 router back to factory settings, then this article shows you how. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. A reboot happens every time a router loses power. A Router Reset completely erases the router and returns it to factory settings.

Warning: Make sure that you fully understand the following before resetting your router. When you reset your router, the following will happen.

  • The router's username and password are reset to factory defaults.
  • All WiFi settings are reset, including network name and password.
  • Your ISP settings are reset, which means you will have to contact your ISP to get them back.
  • Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

Since a router reset is such a drastic step, it should only be done as a last resort when you cannot recover your router's password using any other methods. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Reset the Thomson DWG875

Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. Most reset buttons look like this:

Router Reset Button

Your reset button may look different, but usually they are very small. Sometimes the button is under a pinhole, and you need a paper clip to push it.

Keep an eye on the lights on the front of your router while holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. The lights on the front of the router should do something different when the reset happens. Do not be concerned about holding the reset button down too long. It will not hurt anything.

Just don't forget that this will totally reset your Thomson DWG875 router.

This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.
