Login To The Trendnet TEW-631BRP

We begin this wireless setup guide on the TRENDnet TEW-631BRP router's Device Information page. Click link labeled Basic in the left sidebar then Wireless.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Trendnet TEW-631BRP

On this new page, use the space labeled Wireless Network Name to enter a new name for your network. This name can be anything you like, but we recommend avoiding personal information. Learn more in this guide.

Now let's look at the Wireless Channel. If you are on channels 1,6, or 11 skip this step. If you are not on one of these three channels change it by unchecking the box titled Enable Auto Channel Scan. Then use the drop down list labeled Wireless Channel to select the correct channel for your network. Read this guide for more information.

Next, scroll down to the Security Mode. Choose the right security for your network here. Our recommendation is WPA Personal.

Set the Cipher Type to AES.

The last setting that needs to be changed is called the Pre-Shared Key. This is the internet password. We recommend using at least 14 to 20 characters. If you need more help in creating a strong password, read this guide.

That's it, the only thing left to do is click the Save Settings button near the top of the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
