WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name

An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The Ubee Ambit U10C037
To get started configuring the Ubee Ambit U10C037 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Ubee Ambit U10C037
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
This guide starts on the Cable Modem Information page of the Ubee U10C037. Begin by selecting the option at the top of the page labeled WIRELESS. Then on the left side of the page click Basic.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Ubee Ambit U10C037
This takes you to a page similar to the one you see here. First, you should change the Network Name (SSID). This is your ID and should be unique. It doesn't really matter what you enter here but we recommend avoiding the use of personal information. Learn more in this guide.
The other setting that can be changed if you like is the Channel. This may need to be changed if you internet is not running as smoothly or as quickly as you think it should. If you need to change your channel just make sure to use channels 1, 6, or 11. Find out why in this guide.
After clicking the Apply button, go back to the left sidebar and select the option of Security.
You are then taken to a page like the one you see above. First, you should see four different security options. They are WPA, WPA-PSK, WPA2, and WPA2-PSK. The most secure is WPA2-PSK. If you are interested in learning the differences in the security options, check out this WEP vs. WPA guide.
In the drop down list titled WPA/WPA2 Encryption, pick AES.
Under that is the WPA Pre-Shared Key. This is your internet password and should be strong. We recommend using at least 14 to 20 characters. For added strength try adding some symbols, numbers, and capital letters also. If you need more help creating a strong password, check out this Password Guide.
The last setting that you should look at is the WiFi Protected Setup (WPS). Do not use WPS as it is very easy to crack. Read this WPS guide for more information. Please disable this setting for a more secure network.
That's it, just click the Apply button and you are finished.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
