If you need to reset your UStec TP-IPR8 router back to factory settings, then this article shows you how. Resetting a router is different than rebooting a router. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.
Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. When you reset your router, the following will happen.
- The router's username and password are reset.
- All WiFi information such as network name, password, and authentication method are erased.
- If your router has any ISP settings they will be removed, and you will have to contact your ISP.
- Any firewall settings, parental controls, and port forwards that you have configured will be removed.
A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. Before you reset your router you may want to try recovering your router password with our Router Password Finder.

Recover Password in UStec TP-IPR8
If the only reason that you are resetting your router is because you forgot your router password, then you may want to try running our Router Password Finder instead of resetting your router.

If you are unable to recover your lost router password, then you may have to proceed with a full router reset.
Reset the UStec TP-IPR8
You can usually find a small reset button on either the back or the bottom of a router. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:
Reset buttons are usually tiny. Yours may look slightly different than this. Sometimes the reset button is under a pinhole on the back of the router, and you need a paper clip to push it.
Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and watch the lights. After a few seconds the lights should blink differently. When this happens, the reset is complete. You can hold the button down as long as you like, it will not hurt anything.
Just don't forget that this will totally reset your UStec TP-IPR8 router.

Login to the UStec TP-IPR8
Once the reset is complete, you need to login to your router using the default IP address, username, and password. We have a TP-IPR8 Login Guide with all this information ready for you.
Change Your Password
You need to change your router's default password after you log in for the first time. The factory default passwords for routers are very well known. Our Choosing a Strong Password guide can help you pick a strong password for your router.
Tip: Write your new password down on a post-it note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
