Setup WiFi on the V-Link VLR-1505n

The V-Link VLR-1505n router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

WiFi Terms

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.

Login To The V-Link VLR-1505n

To get started configuring the V-Link VLR-1505n WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the V-Link VLR-1505n

If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.

This wireless setup guide begins on the Status page of the V-Link VLR-1505n router. To start configuring your wireless settings, click Wireles in the left hand sidebar of the page. Then make sure you are on the Basic Settings page.

Change the WiFi Settings on the V-Link VLR-1505n

This should take you to the page you see above.

Start by entering your desired network name into the box marked SSID. We recommend avoiding any personal information, though your network name can be anything you like. To learn more, check out our Wireless Names Guide.

Now make sure the Channel Number is set to either 1, 6, or 11. Why is this important? See our WiFi Channels Guide to find out.

Be sure to click Apply Changes before leaving the page.

Now click Security on the left hand side of the page.

On this new page, start by selecting the SSID you just created.

Set the Encryption to WPA2, and then the Authentication Mode to Personal (Pre-Shared Key). To learn more, see our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Now set the WPA2 Cipher Suite to AES. Below that, open the drop down menu labeled Pre-Shared Key Format and select the Passphrase option.

Finally, in the box labeled Pre-Shared Key, enter your desired network password. This can be anything you like, though a strong password consists of 14-20 characters. For more tips on creating a strong password, check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

And that's all there is to it. Just make sure to click Apply Changes near the top of the page before leaving.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
