WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.
Wireless Password
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The Vizio XWR100
To get started configuring the Vizio XWR100 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Vizio XWR100
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
Let's begin this wireless setup guide on the Home page of the Vizio XWR100 router. There are three options in the center of the page. Select the one titled WIRELESS.
This should take you to a page like the one you see here. If you need to change whether 5GHz or 2.4GHz is active click the Edit Settings to change what remains active.
To change the security of your network, click the button on the left side near the bottom labeled Advanced.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Vizio XWR100
On this new page, use the space titled Network Name (SSID) to enter a name for your network. This name can be anything you like but we recommend avoiding personal information. To learn more check out our Wireless Name Guide.
Now let's take a look at the Security Mode. For the best security pick the option of WPA2 Personal. To learn why, check out this guide.
Then set the Encryption to AES.
The last setting on this page that needs to be changed is titled Passphrase. This is the internet password and should be strong. We recommend using a minimum of 14 to 20 characters. If you need help creating a strong password, check out our Password guide.
When you are finished, click the Save Changes button to finalize your changes.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
