In this article, you will learn how to reset your ZTE MF29A back to factory settings. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Turning a router off and back on again causes a reboot. A Router Reset completely erases the router and returns it to factory settings.

Warning: This is not a step to be taken lightly. The following settings will be changed in your router:

  • The router's login and password are reset to factory defaults.
  • All WiFi login information and network names are reset.
  • All ISP settings will reset to default, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any parental controls, firewall settings, or port forwards will be removed.

A router reset should be considered the last resort when you cannot log in to your router any other way. You should be sure that you have tried to at least recover your router password using our Router Password Finder before resorting to a router reset.

Reset the ZTE MF29A

Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. A typical reset button looks like this:

Router Reset Button

Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. Sometimes the button is under a pinhole, and you need a paper clip to push it.

Hold the reset button down for 10 seconds and watch the lights. The blinking pattern of the lights on the front of the router should change when the reset is complete. Do not worry about holding the button down too long; this is harmless.

Just don't forget that this will totally reset your ZTE MF29A router.

This last step should only be taken if you have tried everything else, such as using our Router Password Finder software, which can recover lost or forgotten router passwords.
