Setup WiFi on the ZyXEL P 2601HN

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The ZyXEL P 2601HN

Find the WiFi Settings on the ZyXEL P 2601HN

Starting on the Device Information page of the ZyXEL P-2601HN-F1 router click the link in the left sidebar labeled Network. Then under that choose Wireless LAN.

Then just be sure the tab at the top of the page labeled General is selected.

Change the WiFi Settings on the ZyXEL P 2601HN

Once you have come to this page, make sure the box labeled Enable Wireless LAN is checked.

Next, change the Network Name (SSID). This is the name you give your network to identify it. Be creative but don't include personal information. Learn more about the SSID in this guide.

Now use the Channel Selection drop down list to choose the channel you want to transmit your data on. We recommend channels 1, 6, or 11 for the best reception. Find out why in this guide.

A little farther down the page is a drop down list titled Security Mode. Use this list to choose your security. The strongest form right now is WPA2-PSK. If you are interested in learning why, read this guide.

Then under that change the Pre-Shared Key. This is the internet password and should be strong. Check out our Password Guide if you need help with this step.

The last setting is titled Encryption Type. Go ahead and set this to AES.

That's it, just click the Apply button before leaving this page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
