Setup WiFi on the ZyXEL P 330w

The ZyXEL P 330w router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

WiFi Terms

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The ZyXEL P 330w

Find the WiFi Settings on the ZyXEL P 330w

We begin this wireless setup guide on the Status page of the ZyXEL P-330W router. Start off by clicking Wireless on the left hand side of the page. Then under that, pick Basic.

Change the WiFi Settings on the ZyXEL P 330w

You should now be on the page you see above.

Start by deciding on a network name. This can be anything you wish, though we recommend avoiding any personal information. When you've thought of one, enter it into the box labeled SSID. For more information, see our Wireless Names Guide.

Now make sure the Channel Number is set to either 1,6, or 11. To learn why this is important, check out our WiFi Channels Guide.

Make sure to click Save when you're happy with these settings.

Now click Security located in the left hand sidebar.

Start out by making sure the Encryption is set to WPA2(AES). Why is this the best option? See our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.

Be sure the WPA Authentication Mode is set to Personal (Pre-Shared Key), and the WPA Cipher Suite is set to AES. The WPA(Pre-Shared Key) Format should be set to Passphrase.

That's all there is to it. Just be sure to Save your settings before leaving the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
