This guide is covering how to reset the Arris NVG595 ATnT router. Resetting a router is different than rebooting a router. Rebooting refers to cycling the power by turning the device off and back on again. Resetting a router is erasing all of your changes you have made and reverting the device to factory settings.
Warning: Resetting the router shouldn't be done all the time. Resetting the router has consequences. Please consider the following:
Begin by making sure your Arris NVG595 ATnT router is switched on. Do not unplug or turn off the router during the reset process. Doing so could permanently damage the router.
Now you need to locate the reset button. In this case the reset button is on the back panel. We have circled it in red in the image below.
Using a pin or unfolded paperclip press and hold the reset button for about 15 seconds.
Remember this is going to erase all your previous configurations. Don't do this until you have tried other troubleshooting methods.
After the reset is complete you need to login using the default username and password. We have found these for you and included them in the Arris NVG595 ATnT Login Guide.
Now that you have logged into the Arris NVG595 ATnT you need to change the default password. It can be difficult coming up with new passwords. There are some helpful tips for you in our Choosing a Strong Password guide.
The last setting we ask you check is the WiFi security. The security of your network is also going to be reset. Some router companies like to leave the security open as the default. This means you have no security for your network. We strongly recommend making sure the WiFi security is set to WPA2-PSK. We have a guide for you on that subject called How to Setup WiFi on the Arris NVG595 ATnT.
