This brings you to the page shown above.

The first thing you should do is set an SSID. This will serve as your network identification and can be whatever you want. However, due to security reasons we highly recommend avoiding the use of any personal information. For more on this subject be sure to visit our Wireless Names Guide.

Next is the Control Channel. Open the drop down list and choose either 1, 6, or 11. Want to know why these are the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide to find out.

After that set the Authentication Method to WPA2-Personal. This will provide you with the strongest security. For more info be sure to check out our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

The WPA Encryption needs to be set to AES.

Finally is the WPA Pre-Shared Key. This is the same thing as a password and will protect your wireless network. You'll want to set a strong password, which can be difficult. For help in doing so be sure to take a look through our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Congratulations! That's it. Just don't forget to click Apply before closing the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
