This article covers how to reset the Asus TUF-AX3000 router back to factory default settings. This is not the same thing as rebooting a router. Unplugging a router from the wall reboots it. This is different from a reset because a reset completely erases all settings from the router.

Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. A router reset will affect the following settings:

  • The router's username and password are reset.
  • All WiFi information such as network name, password, and authentication method are erased.
  • Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • Any firewall settings, parental controls, and port forwards that you have configured will be removed.

Since a router reset is such a drastic step, it should only be done as a last resort when you cannot recover your router's password using any other methods. Make sure that you have tried to recover your router password using our Router Password Finder first.

Do not do a full router reset until after you have tried every other option to log in to your router.

Reset the Asus TUF-AX3000

Most routers have a small button on either the back or the bottom. Look at your router and try to find something that looks like this:

Router Reset Button

Your reset button may look different, but usually they are very small. If you find a pinhole on the back of the router then that may be the reset button. You will need a paper clip to push it.

Hold the reset button down for about 10 seconds while watching the lights on the front of your router. Notice how the lights on the front of the router are blinking. When the lights do something different, the router is reset. It is harmless to hold the reset button too long.

Remember, this will totally reset your Asus TUF-AX3000 router.

Only do this once you have exhausted all other troubleshooting options, such as running our Router Password Finder software, which can recover a lost router password for you.

Login to the Asus TUF-AX3000

Now that you have finished resetting the router, you need to login to the router interface using the default username and password. Our TUF-AX3000 Login Guide has all of the information that you need.

Change Your Password

You need to change your router's default password after you log in for the first time. It is a huge security risk to leave your router's password set to the factory default. Our Choosing a Strong Password guide can help you pick a strong password for your router.

Tip: After creating this new password, we highly recommend writing this down on a post-it note and attaching it to the bottom of your router for future reference.
