In this guide you will learn how to reset the Asus WL-530gv2 router. A router reset or restore is not the same thing as a router reboot. Rebooting a router is cycling the power by turning the device off and back on again. Resetting the router has a lot more consequences. A reset takes all your configurations and reverts them back to the default settings.

Warning: A router reset could cause a lot of problems for you if you don't know what to expect. Please consider the following before continuing:

  • The router's main username and password are reverted to factory settings.
  • The WiFi settings are returned to default as well. This includes the SSID, security method, and password. You will need to re-configure these.
  • If you use a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP username and password. You could lose Internet connection if you don't do this. Contact your ISP for more information.
  • Any settings you have changed in the past are erased. This could include port forwards, or maybe IP address changes.
