On this new page, in the first empty line, or rule as it is sometimes called, place a check in the box labeled Enable.

In the next box to the right is the Description box. Enter the name of the program or something else that will help you remember why you are forwarding these ports.

If you are forwarding a single port, enter this port number in the Inbound Port box and the Private Port box. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter that range in both the Inbound port and Private port boxes. Enter the range with lowest number first, dash, then highest number, for example 22-34.

Next is the Type drop down menu. Use this menu to choose the type of protocol you are going to use to forward your ports.

In the Private IP address box, enter the IP address you are forwarding these ports to, for example if you are forwarding a port to run a program on your computer, be sure to use that computer's IP address here.
