Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Belkin F7D8302 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Belkin F7D8302

Forward a Port on the Belkin F7D8302 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Belkin F7D8302

Once you have finished logging into the Belkin F7D8302v1 you are taken to the Status page of your router. On the left you see a list of links, choose the one labeled Virtual Servers, this is directly underneath Firewall.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Belkin F7D8302

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

This takes you to a page like the one above. In the first empty line of boxes, place a check mark in the box labeled Enable.

To the right of this is the Description box. Here you can enter the name of the program or something that will help you to remember why you are forwarding these ports.

If you are forwarding only one port, enter this port number in the box labeled Inbound port and again in Private port. If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the range in both of these boxes also. Be sure that when you enter them that they are in this format, 22-29, lowest number, dash, highest number.

Next is the Type drop down menu. Use this menu to choose which type of protocol you want to use to forward these ports.

The only empty box left is the Private IP address. enter the IP address you are forwarding these ports to. For example if you are forwarding some ports to run a program on computer A, then be sure to use computer A's IP address here.

When you have finished, click Add and Apply Changes.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Belkin F7D8302 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
