There is a lot of confusion between two terms pertaining to resetting a router. The first is reboot. To reboot a router simply means to cycle the power. You can do this by pressing and immediately releasing the "reset" button. This is done to solve some problems involving your router. The second term is reset. A true router reset is taking all the settings inside your router and returning every one of them back to factory defaults. This guide will cover how to properly reset the Belkin F9J1107v1 router.

Warning: A reset is a serious step. A lot of things change and need to reconfigured afterwards. Some things to consider are:

  • The router's main username and password are returned to factory defaults.
  • The Internet name and password are returned to default.
  • The ISP or Internet Service Provider username and password are erased if you have DSL. You will need to call your ISP for this information.
  • Any other settings you have changed are erased or returned to how they were from the factory. This could include anything from IP addresses to port forwards.

Reset the Belkin F9J1107

The first step in this reset is to find the reset button. This button is typically red, recessed, and very tiny to avoid accidental reset. We have located it in the image below and circled it for you.

Due to the tiny and recessed nature of the button you need to use an unwound paperclip or pin to press and hold down the button for at least 10 seconds. Less than that and you are only rebooting the router.

Remember that this will erase everything you have ever done to your router. We strongly recommend trying other ways of troubleshooting your problem before you reset.

Login to the Belkin F9J1107

Next you need to login to the Belkin F9J1107v1 router. To do this you need to know the factory default IP address, username and password. We have found these for you and included them in our handy Login Guide for the Belkin F9J1107v1 router.

Change Your Password

The next step is to change the default password. Belkin likes to leave the password blank until you access it for the first time. This also means it's extremely easy for everyone to access your network. Change your password to something stronger by following the tips in the Choosing a Strong Password guide.

Tip: If your router is located in a secure place you can write this password down on a piece of paper and attach it to the bottom of the router for future reference.

Setup WiFi on the Belkin F9J1107v1

The last thing we will discuss are the WiFi settings. These need to be reconfigured. Some router manufacturers including Belkin like to leave the WiFi security disabled as the default. This makes it easier for you to connect to the Internet the first time. This in turn makes it much easier for someone else to connect to your network as well. We recommend changing this to WPA2 with a nice strong password. Follow this How to Setup WiFi on the Belkin F9J1107v1 guide for step-by-step instructions.
