Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Billion 5102G to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Billion 5102G

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Billion 5102G router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Billion 5102G router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Billion 5102G

When you first log into the Billion 5102G you begin on the Device Info page. Click the choice at the top of the page labeled Advanced Setup. New choices appear below this, pick the one labeled NAT.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Billion 5102G

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You are now on a page like the one you see above. Click the link near the bottom of this page called Virtual Server.

On this new page, in the first box is the Rule Index. Here you need to choose the rule you wish to change. In this case the rule refers to the number down below in the Virtual Server Listing. Just pick the first blank one.

In the box labeled Application type in the name of the program or something similar to help remind you why you are forwarding these ports.

Next is the Protocol. Use the protocol drop down menu to choose the type of protocol you want to use when forwarding these ports.

If you are forwarding only one port, enter that port number in both boxes labeled Start Port Number and End Port Number. If you are forwarding a range of ports enter the lowest number of the range in the Start Port Number and the highest number of the range in the End Port Number box. If you are forwarding two or more ports that are not in a range such as 20 and 43 then you will have to make a new rule for the second one.

Next is the Local IP Address. In this box, enter the IP address you are forwarding these ports to, for example if you are forwarding a port to run a certain program on your computer, be sure to use that computer's IP address in this box.

When you have finished, be sure to click SAVE before exiting.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Billion 5102G you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
