Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Billion 7204W to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Billion 7204W

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Billion 7204W router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Billion 7204W router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Billion 7204W

Starting on the Status page of the Billion 7204W router, click the choice on the left labeled Configuration, then below that, Virtual Server.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Billion 7204W

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

You should now be on the correct page to forward a port.

  • Find the first empty row of boxes, and put a check mark in the box labeled Enable.
  • In the space labeled Application, enter the name of the program you are forwarding these ports for. This is not very important, but for your future reference.
  • Next is the Protocol drop down menu, use this menu to choose the type of protocol or transport you want to use when forwarding these ports.
  • If you are forwarding a single port, enter that number in all four of the boxes labeled External Port, and Redirect Port.
  • If you are forwarding a range of ports, enter the lowest number of the range in the left box of both the External and Redirect Port boxes, and the highest number of the range in the right box of both the External and Redirect Port boxes.
  • Finally, in the IP Address box, enter the LAN IP address of the computer or device you want to forward these ports to.

Click the SAVE CONFIG button, before you exit.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Billion 7204W you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
