You should now be on a page like the one you see here. The first thing that needs to be setup is the Security Mode. The best choice here is WPA2-PSK. For a more detailed guide, tick the link, WEP vs. WPA.

Below that is the WPA2 Algorithms. This is the encryption you are to use when you transmit data over the airwaves. The choices are TKIP and AES. TKIP is a little older and some flaws have been found making it easier to crack. We recommend using the algorithm of AES.

Next is the WPA2 Shared Key. This is the password you are going to use to access your network. This is also used in the encryption method. Your password should contain at least 20 characters for strength. Don't use any personal information. Don't use any words you can find in a dictionary. It is much better to misspell a word, this is much harder to crack. Do use symbols, capital letters, and numbers in your password. For a great guide on this subject, tick the link titled Choosing a strong password.

That's all there is to it, just click the Apply button and you are done.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
