On this page I will show you how to reset the Comstar WA-6202-V2 router back to it's original factory default settings. This is not the same thing as rebooting the router. A router reboot is a way of cycling the power to the device. This is done to solve minor problems you may be having with your router. A router reset is taking every single setting and returning them to how they were from the factory.
Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and you need to be aware of what settings are changed. Please consider the following:
- The router's main username and password are reverted to the original factory settings.
- The Internet name and password are also returned to factory settings.
- If you use a DSL router you need to enter the ISP username and password again. This information can be gathered by calling your local Internet Service Provider.
- If you have made any other changes to the router you should write these down so you can reconfigure them later.

Use a VPN Instead
Have you considered using a VPN instead of forwarding a port? For most users, a VPN is a much simpler and more secure choice than forwarding a port.
We use and recommend NordVPN because not only is it the fastest VPN, it includes a new feature called Meshnet that makes forwarding a port no longer necessary for most applications. With NordVPN Meshnet, you can connect to your devices from anywhere in the world, completely secure, over a highly encrypted VPN tunnel.
When shopping for a VPN, make sure that they meet the following criteria:
- Your VPN provider should have a no-logs policy. This means that they do not keep any logs of any kind.
- Make sure that your VPN provider has lots of exit nodes all around the world.
- Check that your VPN will not affect your speed.
- Verify that your VPN provider uses WireGuard as the underlying protocol.
- Many people prefer a VPN provider that is not based in the United States.
This is the list of requirements that we used when we were shopping around for a VPN provider. There are lots of free, shady VPN providers out there that we looked at and dismissed.
Based in Panama, using diskless servers, and with over 6,100 servers in 61 countries, we can safely say that NordVPN satisfies all of these requirements.
Once you've set up your NordVPN account on multiple computers and enabled Meshnet, you can seamlessly access all of your devices as if they were on the same network. You don't even have to log in to your router. It's very simple.
Every time you click on one of our affiliate links, such as NordVPN, we get a little kickback for introducing you to the service. Think of us as your VPN wingman.
Once you end up deciding to reset the Comstar WA-6202-V2 router you need to know where the reset button is located. On this particular router we were unable to find the exact location. We can show you the typical location of a reset button:
As you can see it is normally found on the back panel of the device. If it is not found there you can look on the side panel or underside of the device.
Once you find the reset button take the tip of a very sharp pencil or pen and press down on it for at least 10 seconds. This initiates the reset process which could take up to a minute or two to complete.
Warning: If you don't hold this button down for long enough it may only reboot the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.
Remember this reset process will completely erase all personal configurations you have made to your router. If you want to avoid the prospect of re-configuring the router you should try other troubleshooting methods first.
Login to the Comstar WA-6202
After the reset is complete you will need to login to the Comstar WA-6202-V2 router using the factory default username and password. This information is found in our Comstar WA-6202-V2 Login Guide.
Change Your Password
The next step is changing the default password you just used to access the router interface. This password is very easy to crack and should not be used long term. In order to create a stronger password you might want to look at our Choosing a Strong Password guide.
Tip: One way to avoid losing this password is to write it down on a piece of paper and stick it to the bottom of the router for next time you need it.
