Configure your Computer to Have a Static IP Address

Port forwarding the Dlink DHP-1565 to your computer can be more reliable if you first configure a static IP address on your computer. We have instructions to setup a static IP address for Windows 7, Windows 8, and a variety of other devices on our Static IP Address Settings page.

Please note that while setting up a static IP address on your computer is optional, it is still a very good idea to go ahead and do it. In the long run it will make your port forward much more reliable.

Login To The Dlink DHP-1565

To get started forwarding a port you need to login to your Dlink DHP-1565 router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Forward a Port on the Dlink DHP-1565 router

Find The Port Forwarding Section of the Dlink DHP-1565

You begin on the Internet Connection page of the Dlink DHP-1565 router. To forward a port, begin by clicking the Advanced link at the top of the page.

Then, looking to the left side of the page, click the choice of Port Forwarding.

Configure the Port Forwarding section of your Dlink DHP-1565

Now to forward a port, make the following changes:

Begin by placing a checkmark in the small box on the far left of an empty line. This is the box that enables the following ports.

Next, enter the name of the program you are forwarding these ports for in the box titled Name. This isn't crucial to the forwarding process, but for your information.

Under that is the box titled IP Address. Enter the LAN IP address of the specific computer you are forwarding these ports to.

Ignore the next to boxes on the right and skip over to the TCP and UDP boxes. Enter the ports you are forwarding into both of these boxes. Ports can be entered a number of different ways:

  • As individual ports, 80,25,896
  • As a range, 80-100
  • or mix it up, 68,500,80-100

Set the Schedule to Always.

The Inbound Filter should be set to Allow All.

Click Save Settings, near the top of the page.

Test if Your Ports are Open

Now that you have forwarded ports on the Dlink DHP-1565 you should test to see if your ports are forwarded correctly.
