Setup WiFi on the Dlink DHP-1565

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Dlink DHP-1565

We begin this wireless setup guide for the Dlink DHP-1565 router on the SETUP page. Start off by clicking WIRELESS SETTINGS on the left hand side of the page.

Change the WiFi Settings on the Dlink DHP-1565

You should now be on the page you see above.

Begin by clicking the box labeled Enable Wireless and setting it to Always.

Following that you'll need to set a Wireless Network Name. This can be anything you like, however we strongly recommend that you avoid any sort of personal information. To learn more check out our Wireless Names Guide.

Next make sure that the Enable Auto Channel Scan is off. From there set the Wireless Channel to either 1, 6, or 11. Want to know why these are the best options? Read our WiFi Channels Guide.

Now open the drop down menu labeled Security Mode and select WPA2 only.

After that make sure that the WPA Mode is set to WPA2. This will provide you with the strongest security. Why? Take a look at our WEP vs. WPA Guide to find out.

Be sure that the Cipher Type is set to AES.

Lastly you need to set a Pre-Shared Key. This will be your network password and can be anything you like. However keep in mind that a strong password consists of 14-20 characters and includes no personal information. For more help check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
