Have you been trying to login to the Dlink DSL-2750B Verizon router without success? It might be time to consider a reset. A reset is different than a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the device. No settings are changed during a reboot. When you reset a router you take all the settings you have changed in the past and erase them reverting them all to how they were from the factory.

Warning: Resetting the router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. I strongly recommend making a list of all the possible settings that you have changed in the past. These settings could include:

  • the router's main username and password. These are used to access the router's interface pages.
  • the WiFi settings such as the SSID, encryption and password. These secure your wireless network.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. Call your local provider for the details.
  • What other settings have you changed in the past? How about port forwarding or IP address changes? Make sure to write these down as well.

While the router is on take a straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds. This begins the reset process which can take several minutes to complete. If you don't hold the reset button down for long enough you might end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted so be careful.

Warning: Do not unplug or turn off the router during the reset process. Doing so could cause permanent damage to the device.

Remember a reset like this one is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed in the lifetime of this device. Please consider other troubleshooting methods before you decide to reset.
