Setup WiFi on the Dynalink RTA1046VW

  • Click the Wireless option at the top of the page.
  • If you are automatically taken to the Basic Setting page, click the Basic Settings link on the left side of the page.

Ultimately you need to end up on the page you see above.

  • Make sure that the Enable Wireless Network box is checked.
  • The Wireless Main Network Name (SSID) is next. This is the name you create to identify your network when needed. It's not very important what you enter here but we recommend avoiding personal information. To learn more about the SSID, read our Wireless Names Guide.
  • Next is the Channel. You can change your wireless channel if you need to just like a radio or television. Make sure you use one of the non-overlapping channels of 1,6, or 11. To learn more about this, read our guide by clicking this link.
  • Tick the Apply button when you are finished.
  • Looking to the left, pick the Security option.

  • Choose the SSID you created on the previous page from the drop down menu labeled Select Wireless Network.
  • Use the Wireless Security drop down menu to choose the security method you want to use for your local WiFi network. To learn what all these security options are, read our WEP vs. WPA Guide. Our recommendation is the selection of WPA2-PSK.
  • The Pre-Shared Key (PSK) should be next. This is the password is used when a wireless device wants to connect to the internet with this router. It is important to create a strong password. We recommend using at least 14-20 characters here. Don't forget that you can use numbers and symbols in your password along with letters.   • Finish by clicking the Apply button. You may be required to restart your router before these changes take effect.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
