How to Reset the Edimax BR-6208AC

Have you been trying to login to the Edimax BR-6208AC router unsuccessfully? It might be time to reset the Edimax BR-6208AC router back to factory defaults. This is not the same thing as a reboot.

When you reboot a router you are simply cycling the power to the unit.No settings are changed.

When you reset a router you restore the router back to factory default settings. This means every single setting you have ever changed is reverted back to factory defaults.

Warning: A reset is a big step and should not be taken lightly. Some of the settings you need to consider are:

The router's main username and password are erased and reverted back to how they were from the factory.

If this is a DSL router you will need to re-enter the Internet Service Provider (ISP) username and password. Call your ISP for these details.

The wireless information such as SSID and Internet password are erased.

Any additional settings such as port forwards or IP address changes are erased.

Looking at the image below you can see the reset button is found on the back panel. It is also coupled with the WPS button. What is WPS?

While the router is on, press the reset button for at least 10 seconds or until the power LED button begins to flash. If you don't hold this button down for at least 10 seconds you initiate the WPS instead of resetting it like you wanted.
