If you are having trouble with your router and cannot log in, you may need to reset the Edimax BR6228nC router back to it's original factory default settings.
There is a lot of confusion between the terms reset and reboot. What is the difference?
Warning: Is there no other way to fix your problem? If you have exhausted all possible troubleshooting methods and still cannot access the Edimax BR6228nC interface then you need to reset the router. Make a list of all settings you have changed in the past. Things to consider are:
The first step in a reset is to find the reset button. Turn your router around so you are looking at the back panel of the Edimax BR6228nC router. I have an image of the reset button below.
While the router is on press and hold the reset/WPS button for more than 10 seconds. This is important because if you don't you end up initiating WPS. What is WPS?
Don't forget that this reset is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed on this device. We strongly recommend trying other methods of accessing your router interface before you decide on a reset.
Following that you'll need to log into your Edimax BR6228nC router. Do this by using the factory default username and password. Don't know where to find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.
Tip: If the defaults aren't logging you in it could be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.
After you've logged into your router we recommend setting a new password for it. Keep in mind that this password will only protect your router settings, not your wireless network. Still, setting a strong password is always a good idea. For more help be sure to check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.
Tip: Avoid forgetting your new password by writing it on a slip of paper and taping it to the underside of your router.
It is time to begin the reconfiguration process. This needs to include your wireless settings. This is what secures your WiFi network. For an easy to follow guide on the topic check out our How to Setup WiFi on the Edimax BR6228nC page.
