You need to reset the Edimax BR6228nS router if you have tried to access your router interface and can't do it. On this page I will show you how to properly reset the Edimax BR6228nS router.

There is a lot of understandable confusion between the terms reset and reboot. What is the difference>?

  • Reboot - A reboot is a cycle in the power to the unit. There is no change of settings. A reboot is simply a restart of the device.
  • Reset - A reset is a complete factory restore of all settings. This means if you have made any changes (such as your router access password) it erases that and returns it to the original default router password it came with from the factory.

Warning: We strongly recommend you try other methods of troubleshooting your router access problem before deciding to reset the device. If you still set on resetting the Edimax BR6228nS router, you should make a list of any settings you may of changed during the lifetime of this device. Things to consider are:

  • The router access IP address, username and password
  • The Internet information such as SSID/name and password
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your ISP for these details.
  • Port forwards, IP address changes, parental controls, DNS server...etc.
