Setup WiFi on the EnGenius ESR9350

The EnGenius ESR9350 router is considered a wireless router because it offers WiFi connectivity. WiFi, or simply wireless, allows you to connect various devices to your router, such as wireless printers, smart televisions, and WiFi enabled smartphones.

WiFi Terms

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Wireless Name

Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.

Login To The EnGenius ESR9350

To get started configuring the EnGenius ESR9350 WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the EnGenius ESR9350

You begin on the Status page of the EnGenius ETR9350 router.

  • Click the Wireless file in the left sidebar.
  • Look to the top of the page and click the choice titled Basic.

Change the WiFi Settings on the EnGenius ESR9350

  • Find the box titled SSID1. Enter a new name in this box. The SSID is the name you create to identify your network. Don't use personal information here. Click this link to learn more about the SSID or wireless name.
  • Scroll down and find the Channel. If you are not on channel 1,6, or 11 change your channel by using the drop down menu to the right. Click this link to learn more about channels 1,6, and 11.
  • Click the Apply button when you are finished.
  • Look to the top of the page and tick the Security link.

  • Use the SSID Selection box to highlight the SSID you just created.
  • For the best security set the Encryption to WPA pre-shared key.
  • If asked for a WPA type, choose WPA2(AES). Click this link to learn more about why this is the best choice.
  • Choose Passphrase for the Pre-shared Key type.
  • The Pre-shared Key is next. This is password you type into the wireless devices in order to connect to the internet through your router. We recommend creating a strong password of at least 14-20 characters with a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Click this link to learn more about creating a strong password that is memorable.
  • Click the Apply button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
