Have you been trying to login to the Hot Hotbox v2 router and been unable to do so? You may need to reset the Hot Hotbox v2 router back to the original factory default settings.

This is not the same thing as a reboot. When you reboot a router you cycle the power to the unit. When you reset a router you take all the settings and return them all to factory defaults.

Warning: Resetting a router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We recommend creating a list of all the settings you may of changed in the past. This could include:

  • The router's main username and password.
  • The WiFi information such as SSID and Internet password.
  • If this is a DSL router you need to re-enter the ISP or Internet Service Provider username and password. You must call your ISP for these details.
  • Have you ever made any other changes to the Hot Hotbox v2 router? If you have make sure to write them down in this list.

Reset the Hot Hotbox

For the Hot Hotbox v2 router I was unable to find an image of the reset button for you. However, I can show you the typical location of a reset button.

Find the reset button on the Hot Hotbox v2 router. It could be anywhere on the outside of the device. It will look more like a pinhole not a button.

While the router is on, take a small object like a straight paperclip and press down on the reset button for approximately 10 seconds to begin the reconfiguration process.

Remember a reset like this one is going to erase every single setting you have ever changed in the history of the router. We strongly recommend exhausting your other troubleshooting techniques before doing a reset.

Login to the Hot Hotbox

Once you've successfully reset the Hot Hotbox v2 router you should log into it. This is done by using the factory default username and password. Not sure where you can find these? We have them listed for your use in our Login Guide.

Tip: If the defaults aren't working for you it may be because the reset button wasn't held down for long enough.

Change Your Password

After logging in we recommend setting a new password for your router. Keep in mind that this password will only protect your router settings, not your wireless network. All the same, setting a strong password is always a wise decision. For help in doing so be sure to visit our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

Tip: Afraid of losing your new password? Try writing it on a note and taping it to the bottom of your router.
