This guide shows you how to reset your Huawei B3000 router to factory default settings. A router reset is a much bigger deal than a router reboot. A reboot happens every time a router loses power. Resetting a router erases all settings from it and returns it to factory defaults.

Warning: Before you continue, there are a few things you need to know. The following settings will be changed in your router:

  • The router's login credentials are reset.
  • All WiFi login information and network names are reset.
  • Your ISP username and password will be reset, and you may have to contact your ISP.
  • All parental controls, firewall settings, and port forwards will be removed.

A router reset is the last step you should take in recovering your router's password. You should be sure that you have tried to at least recover your router password using our Router Password Finder before resorting to a router reset.

Do not do a full router reset until after you have tried every other option to log in to your router.

Reset the Huawei B3000

Most of the time you can find a small reset button located on either the back or the bottom of a router. A typical reset button looks like this:

Router Reset Button

Even though yours may look slightly different, you need to look for a tiny button. Sometimes the button is under a pinhole, and you need a paper clip to push it.

Keep an eye on the lights on the front of your router while holding the reset button down for about 10 seconds. After a few seconds the lights should blink differently. When this happens, the reset is complete. Keep holding the button as long as you want, it will not hurt anything to hold it down too long.

Don't forget, this step will totally reset your Huawei B3000 router back to factory settings.

Only do this once you have exhausted all other troubleshooting options, such as running our Router Password Finder software, which can recover a lost router password for you.

Login to the Huawei B3000

After you are finished resetting your router, you need to login in using the original factory username and password. We have a B3000 Login Guide with all this information ready for you.

Change Your Password

You need to change your router's default password after you log in for the first time. It is a huge security risk to leave your router's password set to the factory default. Our Choosing a Strong Password guide can help you pick a strong password for your router.

Tip: Put your new password on a post-in note and stick it to the bottom of your router.
