You should now be on a new page.

Begin by setting a network name. This can be anything you like, however we recommend avoiding any personal information. Enter your desired network name into the box labeled SSID. To learn more, take a look at our Wireless Names Guide.

Next, make sure that the Security is set to WPA2-PSK. If this is not an option, we highly recommend updating your firmware, as the other security options are outdated. For more information, see our WEP vs. WPA Guide.

Now open the drop down menu labeled WPA Encryption and select AES.

Finally, in the box labeled WPA-PSK, enter your desired network password. A strong password consists of 14-20 character and should not contain any personal information. For more help creating a strong password check out our Choosing a Strong Password Guide.

That's all there is to it. Just be sure to click Submit before leaving the page.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
