Setup WiFi on the Huawei HG521c

Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.

Login To The Huawei HG521c

Find the WiFi Settings on the Huawei HG521c

After you have logged into the Huawei HG521c you begin on the System Information page. To configure the WiFi settings, click the option in the left sidebar labeled Advanced. Below that, tick the Wireless Lan link.

Now find the box labeled SSID. This is the name you give your local network for identification purposes. You can enter anything you want here but we recommend avoiding personal information. To learn more about this topic, read our guide titled How to Change your Wireless Name.

The next thing you may need to change is the Authentication Type. The best option is WPA2-PSK. If this router does not allow this, we strongly recommend updating your firmware to a version that does. Learn more about this topic by reading our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.

Set the Encryption to AES.

The last thing you need to change is the default Pre-Shared Key. This is the password you use to allow or restrict access to your network. We strongly recommend avoiding easily guessed personal information. Make this password at least 14-20 characters in length. That's it, just don't forget to click the Submit button before you exit.

Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings

After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
