Have you tried to login to the Linksys EA6350 router without success? Maybe it is time to consider a reset.

Before we start there is some confusion between a reset and a reboot. When you reboot a router you are cycling the power to the device. When you reset a router you are taking all the settings and returning them all to factory defaults. This means every single setting you have changed in the past is erased.

Warning: Resetting this router is a big step and should not be taken lightly. We strongly recommend making a list of all the possible settings you have changed in the past. These will include:

  • The router's main username and password use to protect the router setup pages.
  • The WiFi settings such as SSID and password. These are used to protect your network.
  • If this is a DSL router you may need to re-enter the ISP (Internet Service Provider) username and password. Call your local ISP for these details.
  • Have you created any port forwards or IP address changes? Write any other settings down so you can remember them.

First you need to be sure the router is on. Then take something sharp such as a pin or straightened paperclip and press down on the reset button for about 10 seconds until the LED starts to blink. If you don't hold the reset button down long enough you end up only rebooting the router instead of resetting it like you wanted.

Warning: DO NOT unplug or turn off the Linksys EA6350 router during the reset process. Doing so could cause permanent damage to the device.

Don't forget that a reset erases every single setting you have changed. I strongly recommend trying other troubleshooting methods before you continue.

Login to the Linksys EA6350

After the reset is complete you will need to login to the router using the default IP adress, password, and username. This default information has been found for you and compiled in our Linksys EA6350 Login Guide.

Tip: Defaults not working? You might not have held down the reset button for long enough. Try resetting the router again but hold the button down for longer.

Change Your Password

Next you should change the password that you just used to access the router as soon as possible. Default passwords are easy to guess and not very secure. If you need help coming up with a secure password, check out our Choosing a Strong Password guide.

Tip: If you are worried about losing your password, try writing it down on a slip of paper and attach it to the bottom of the router.
