WiFi Terms
Before we get started there is a little bit of background info that you should be familiar with.
Wireless Name
Your wireless network needs to have a name to uniquely identify it from other wireless networks. If you are not sure what this means we have a guide explaining what a wireless name is that you can read for more information.
Wireless Password
An important part of securing your wireless network is choosing a strong password.
Wireless Channel
Picking a WiFi channel is not always a simple task. Be sure to read about WiFi channels before making the choice.
Encryption
You should almost definitely pick WPA2 for your networks encryption. If you are unsure, be sure to read our WEP vs WPA guide first.
Login To The Linksys WRT350N
To get started configuring the Linksys WRT350N WiFi settings you need to login to your router. If you are already logged in you can skip this step.

Find the WiFi Settings on the Linksys WRT350N
If you followed our login guide above then you should see this screen.
This guide should begin on the Basic Setup page of the Linksys WRT350Nv2 router. To setup the WiFi section click the option at the top of the page labeled Wireless. Then be sure that Basic Wireless Settings has been highlighted.
Change the WiFi Settings on the Linksys WRT350N
You should now be on a page like the ones you see here.
- Network Mode - Set this to the Mixed setting.
- Network Name (SSID) - This is the name you create in order to identify your network. It's not important what you enter here but we recommend avoiding personal information. Check out our Wireless Name Guide for more information.
- Radio Band - Go ahead and click the option of Standard - 20MHz Channel.
- Standard Channel - Make sure you are using channels 1,6, or 11. Learn more in our WiFi Channels Guide.
- Save Settings - Click this button in order to apply your changes.
Now click the option of Wireless Security at the top in blue.
This brings you to the page you see here.
- Security Mode - Select the option of PSK2 Personal. Learn why in our guide titled WEP vs. WPA.
- Encryption - Your options are TKIP or AES. We recommend the newer option ofAES.
- Pre-shared Key - This is the password you type into your wireless device in order to connect to your network. It is very important that you update the default password to one of your creating. Hackers know the default passwords and try those first. We suggest creating a strong password of around 20 characters. Try and use some symbols, numbers, and capital letters in this new password. - Save Settings - Tick this option in the blue bar at the bottom of the page in order to apply your changes.
That's it, you're done.
Possible Problems when Changing your WiFi Settings
After making these changes to your router you will almost definitely have to reconnect any previously connected devices. This is usually done at the device itself and not at your computer.
